The gym is an interesting place....it is one of the few environments we encounter where failure is your goal. This is the beauty in setting physical goals for yourself, when you can push your body to failure you begin to know how strong you truly are. When you push yourself to your absolute physical threshold and then attempt to mentally push past that threshold to a point you just can't go any further, you have succeeded!
By setting a physical goal and working hard toward that goal this will give you a sense of accomplishment and confidence. This is why it is important for young kids and adults to get involved in some sort of athletics or physical activity that gives them the ability to set goals and achieve those goals. Over time the more goals you achieve the more confidence you will build.
Learning this skill set will eventually transfer to the ability to set other goals in your life to help you achieve whatever it is you want in life. It is important to set goals and continue to strive to be better and stronger.
Never give up on your physical goals no matter where you are in your life. Continue your workouts or physical activities that allow you to push your body. There is something magical in pushing your body to reach goals you have set.
By setting new goals and giving yourself new things to work on, you will stay excited about your workouts and continue to get better and more fit. Change things up with your workouts and keep learning so you can find new things to get excited about setting goals and achieving them!
Remember the gym is one of few places where failure is the goal. There is something very fundamental about this perspective and it is important to always come back to this mindset. It is like a recharge for the body, mind and spirit!
